I assure you that there is profound joy, wonder and massive improvement sticking with something if you understanding the reasoning on WHY something works. If circumstances change and you don't understand the underlying nature of things you will be left guessing aimlessly at what to do next or why it stopped working. But if you understand the principles and underlying nature of something you can adapt, adjust your model and continue to benefiting from the results. The nature of life is fascinating to understand. The journey to understanding, taking interesting detours along the way or even getting lost can actually be one of the best parts of life. I very much recommend reading through the deeper understanding of how things work.
The basic premise of Livefully.net is that if you base things on the truth - you can create solutions to problems that are real and create meaningful change.
That being said human beings need things simplified and actionable like the 10 Commandments or the 48 Laws of Power etc.
At the end of the day if you do the right action you will get the right result. It's the equivalent of understanding why certain principles in body building work VS just giving a body builder a routine. As long as they do the routine along with the nuances of sleep, diet and exercise they will get the results with no understanding of their physiology. SO below are simplified the Livefully.net Keys.
Key #1: Expectations vs Reality Determine How You Feel
Because human beings are always assigning meaning to the world around them - what you compare yourself to in your inner world will determine how you feel. Familiarity with our circumstances leads us to forget or not acknowledge things that would be blessings to other living things or other people. We have the power to assign meaning to things. It is one of our super powers and and amazing adaptability tool. Most living things on this planet suffer because they do not have food, water, warmth or coolness, safety etc. A rich man living in a rich neighborhood feels poor because he compares himself to his neighbors. Be careful what you compare yourself to. As a general rule you should not compare yourself to anyone else but yourself - because we are all different and come from different circumstances. I think it is important to take yourself to places where you will literally and physiologically appreciate all of the things that the evolution of human life for billions of years would consider the equivalent of heaven. Fasting helps you appreciate food. Cold makes you appreciate heat. Volunteering can help you appreciate what you have. It's human nature to take things for granted. So take some time to thank your existence. Thank you for the trees. Thank you for the sun. Thank you for the roads. Thank you for books. Thank you for the internet. Thank you for water. Thank you for peace not war. It's a simple exercise I do with my children but just as love is a verb so I believe gratitude to be. Something as simple as taking a shower, having access to water, food, roads, a home, relative safety, etc. One sure way to prevent yourself from being happy is simply to compare yourself to others and the "fake" social media posts. Life is never that perfect. Perfectionism should be reframed. The fact that you see things for what they could be is a blessing. But you should never expect perfection in your day, in your plan etc. You should expect adversity - and so when it comes it does not surprise you. But you can just say - ahh there it is. Now perfection can be achieved in some things but it can often take years and depends on the context. A well mastered band playing a song can achieve perfection for instance. But in life - life will by its and your nature - due to the fact that you don't know .... EVERYTHING ... typically surprise you. Those surprises will tend to come in both ways good and bad.
Key #1: Life is the only value. Respect it and hence yourself.
Dead things don't care by their very nature. Living things do. Respect life where and when you can. That means your own life too.
Factually to our greatest understanding of science and the world - you are a UNIVERSE unto yourself. You are composed of trillions of cells that make you along with an ecosystem of trillions of bacteria that make up your microbiome all interacting together. Nothing - no one - is better equipped to in the moment take better care of you then you.
Take care of yourself. Take care of the garden that is you. If you take the actions to plow the fields, plant the seeds, water the crops it will be inevitable through causality that you will flourish. You just have to give yourself the time. If you do the right things you will get the right results. Give yourself the foundation of what you a human being need: sleep, diet, exercise and mindset development through the practice of self reflection, reading, writing, conversation and daily practice of various activates.
Key #2: Orientation, Strategic Decision Making and Proper Use of Resources through Action is a Skill and Trumps Where you Start Out in Life
The reason Amazon and Tesla succeeded and exponentially outgrew past other companies who were far better positioned and capitalized and prepared at the time was their ability to orient themselves to the changing world, opportunities around them and make better decisions through clear thinking on how to use resources to capitalize on the world around them.
Key #3: Causality, Free Will and the Truth
Acknowledge where you are. Accept it. Calibrate to it. There is no shame in being poor of mind or body to start, it's what you do with it. There is an inevitable causality to life that has lead you to where you are. You did not choose your parents, your genetics, what country you were born in, what time frame you were born in, you did not choose your friends, what religion, philosophy, you were or were not indoctrinated into at a young age. It is not a reflection of you in many ways where you are. It is only at a certain point in life that some. This is true.
Paradoxically - because to make meaningful change you have to do the opposite which is say that in spite of all of life's circumstances you are committed to a goal - and you need to ask yourself - will choose to make
Key #4: Acknowledge that you will one day die.
The paradoxical thing here is that without death or suffering life would be meaningless.
In life if your going to be fair and you really think about it you can only really compare yourself to yourself.
Acknowledge that the world is distracting. Acknowledge that the world is confusing. Acknowledge that there is an overabundance of noise. There is so much noise that it deafens who you are. By constantly watching social media, context switching you are robbing your own ability to create and synthesize through your own imagination. Your light is being put out - it is important to unplug sometimes. Take sometime by yourself and with your thoughts and do what you were meant to do. The human brain is the greatest computer there is. Being with yourself, taking note of what comes out and learning to shape and organize it is part of the journey.
Key #2: The state of your life will be
Understand that It's OK to be pro you, pro self. Every single living organism on this planet is pro them. It's ok to be pro you, pro active - you can do that while respecting your values and life around you. Develop love and compassion for yourself and those around you.
Key #3
Cultivate, capture and nourish inspiration and good ideas when they come - for how the nature of human kind works is that ideas are like portals that can change your life. Bring the best ideas into existence through hard work is perhaps the greatest thing you can do as a human being.
Remember you only get the benefit and reward of a good idea if you bring it into existence. If you start 10 ideas and finish none you will be exhausted as you will have done the hard work and effort of heavy lifting but reaped none of the rewards. Finish bringing an idea into existence. Reap it's rewards then move on to the next one. Be careful not to spread yourself too thin.
Acknowledge that - it's easy to get confused in life. Be wary of false narratives the world is full of them. Everyone has a mouth and an opinion. It's mostly noise. Ask yourself who you are taking advice from - Are you listening to your poor grandma about how you should make money? Are you listening to an unhappy person on how to be happy? Are you listening to a talking head on TV or an influencer on how to make money in crypto or the stock market? Or should you filter and only really take seriously the advise of people who have actually achieved in the thing that you are trying to achieve?
Trust yourself and your intuition. For what else can you trust if not that? If you are wrong the universe will show you and you will learn and you can adapt. That's good. If you can't trust yourself you will stop moving forward and simply freeze. You will stop the necessary you will make a mistake and learn from it.
Acknowledge you are as smart and capable as any man or woman that applied them selves and walked this earth but also as dumb. Be weary of your pitfalls.
It is through the human imagination is the way you shift your inner states. What you compare your current circumstances to determines your behavior. We don't know how we will die, but we know we all will. A good way to make difficult decisions, or even just get out of bed - or hell perhaps decided to stay in bed is to imagine yourself laying in your deathbed. Unable to move, unable to live - and ask yourself - how would I have wanted to live my life? What's really important?
Human nature is to forget things that are not used. This often leads to forgetting important lessons. This is why spending time to prune your world view is just as important as going to the gym. Otherwise it will all fall apart. You will forget solutions to problems you have solved. You will relive the same problems over and over again. Just as you should schedule time to work out and go to the gym you should set aside time to read, write, and prune your world view, goals etc. A morning warm up routine can be very beneficial.
Everything has a nature including yourself. The sooner you understand that the better. By using that nature you can get things to work for you as opposed to against you. You can scream at a little child who is running or making noise and tell them to STOP! OR you can realize that they are an energy system and what they NEED is to play and expand that energy and instead give them something that will exhaust and drain their energy. Resulting in calm.
To conquer yourself is one of the hardest things. It requires you to understand your own nature - which takes time. My hope is that with some of the insights here you can speed up this process.
Do not live in What ifs - instead take things day by day.
If we are going to go down the "truth" rabbit hole - we can't just do so selectively. History, science and the study of life can certainly show us that things have not just been sunshine and rainbows on planet Earth.
Human beings share a remarkably high amount of DNA with our closest genetic relatives, the chimpanzees and bonobos. The genetic similarity between humans and these great apes is about 98-99%.
Animals feel pain, can and do suffer - it is scientifically measurable and verifiable. They share similar cell structures, brain structures - their bodies communicate pain, fear and joy through nearly identical neurotransmitters not only in the great apes but across various species. If we objectively value human life - then so by extension we must assign some value to the lives of other species.
We are not intrinsically special. This truth hurts.
The history of life as and continues to be a history of atrocities. I mean there's really no other way to look at it - so we must call it what it is. An animal must kill another animal in order to survive. This is really hard to swallow, but most of us - nay infract all of us literally swallow other living things and devour them to survive. There seems to be no way to get around it. It's literally built into us. I dare say you have no choice about it - I'd say most 99.9% would get so hungry that at some point they would willingly kill to survive.
At the writing of this I am a meat eater. I'm just pointing out that the experiences of the billions of fish, chicken and livestock consumed a year are real and through a little inference must be hellish. I'm not a food activist or anything like that by any means but one must call a square a square. Just because you don't experience it - doesn't mean it doesn't happen. These animals die so we can live.
Here's what happens when a fish is taken out of water:
Some fish, like lungfish and certain types of catfish, have adaptations that allow them to survive longer periods out of water. They can breathe air or survive in very low-oxygen environments, but even these fish will eventually perish if they are not returned to an appropriate aquatic habitat.
It is important to handle fish with care and respect, minimizing the time they spend out of water, to ensure their well-being and survival.
